It is with great pride that we share about our Middle School program and how it has developed since it began in 2013. Continuing with small class sizes and a challenging and rewarding curriculum, our students are provided with an environment unique to this age group which allows for high levels of individual attention and fewer distractions faced by other students. Our students have the opportunity to focus on academics, to form lasting bonds with their teachers and each other, and to build a mature confidence not typically associated with students in grades 6-8. Due to the strong LEA foundation, students move on with confidence and an eagerness to accept new challenges in high school and beyond.
The core subjects for Middle School are English, History, Math and Science. Students also have specials such as Literature & the Arts and Physical Education to supplement their learning. Spanish class is taught every day at the Middle School level. Our motto at LEA is Love, Educate, Achieve! As part of our mission, we focus on developing the character of our students and creating citizens who give back to their community and the world. Students participate in a Service Learning course during their time as middle schoolers. Students are provided with daily exposure to the importance of strong character as it relates to supporting our local community and the world. We plan activities and lessons that teach our students the significance of being of service to others and we teach them how they can make our community a better place. Through this program our students have led an anti-bullying campaign, planned and participated in a neighborhood clean- up and beautification initiative, written a community grant and received materials from the American Lung Association, participated in a school-wide random acts of kindness program, participated in an Adopt-a-Grandparent program at a local retirement home, and much more. By learning to become more active members of the community who can make a difference, we have seen an increased demonstration of character development, kindness, teamwork, and comradery with classmates. Our middle school students are role models to younger students and demonstrate a deep respect for members of the community. |
